According to a New Bedford Police detective captain, the accident occurred while the Eversource van was in the process of making a left turn and the other van ran a red light.

After being removed from his vehicle by the New Bedford Fire Department, the driver of the Eversource van is said to have been taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other van was issued a citation for failure to stop at a red light.
