What is the proper way to take a corner on a motorcycle?

Massachusetts and Rhode Island have some terrific roadways for traveling by motorcycle. But as all riders are likely aware, operating a motorcycle takes good reflexes and coordination. Even experienced riders are not immune to taking a spill.

As such, it is very important for all motorcyclists to master the fundamentals of riding. Safe cornering is one of the most important skills for riders to develop. So how do you properly take a corner on a motorcycle?

Well, first, you must enter the turn in the correct gear and at the correct speed. The throttle should be on slightly as you gradually accelerate through the turn. Use counter-steering to lean the motorcycle, maintaining pressure until you establish a good leaning angle. You then stabilize the lean angle by adjusting the pressure as you proceed through the turn. You can begin to accelerate when you see the turn's exit.

It is clearly vital for motorcyclists to negotiate turns correctly and safely. Should a rider enter a turn too fast, he or she could be headed straight off the road. If a motorcycle should fall while in motion, a rider could suffer serious injuries such as road rash, broken bones and head injuries.

In some situations, a rider's skill may not be enough to prevent a catastrophe. For example, if a negligent driver veers from his or her lane into the path of a motorcycle, it may be impossible to avoid a collision or hard tumble.

If you are ever in a motorcycle accident, you may wish to contact an experienced personal injury attorney. The attorney could help you carefully assess the full extent of your injuries as well as the financial impact of the injuries. With this information, the attorney can help you fight to get fair compensation.
