New Bedford Accident Caused by Driver Running Red Light

Posted by Robert T. Karns | Jun 08, 2015 | 0 Comments

Many of us must use the Rhode Island roadways to conduct our daily lives. As such, it is important that we look out for one another while driving. An auto crash can happen so quickly. A hurried or distracted driver can pose a serious threat to others on the road. This threat is personified if a driver fails to observe traffic lights and signs.

Recently in New Bedford, an Eversource van was reportedly flipped over after being struck in an intersection by another van. According to a New Bedford Police detective captain, the accident occurred while the Eversource van was in the process of making a left turn and the other van ran a red light.

After being removed from his vehicle by the New Bedford Fire Department, the driver of the Eversource van is said to have been taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other van was issued a citation for failure to stop at a red light.

It is critical that all drivers heed traffic signals. Ignoring or missing a signal's warning can lead to tragedy. If a vehicle charges through a signal and strikes another vehicle, the victims of the crash could suffer catastrophic injuries. Medical expenses can be very costly. Additionally, an accident victim may lose money due to missing time from work during recuperation.

If you or a member of your family are ever injured due to a negligent driver failing to observe traffic laws, a Rhode Island motor vehicle accident attorney may be able to help you get due compensation.
