Truck driver allegedly involved in fatal bicycle accident

Karns & Kerrison

For many people, riding a bicycle is a favored means of transportation. Bicycle riders can reap many benefits, including getting exercise and not having to deal with the hassle of finding a parking space. But as bicyclists are likely well aware, you have to be on your guard at all times when riding near auto traffic.

It takes very little contact from an automobile to cause severe injuries to a bicyclist. If a motor vehicle should strike a bike, the driver should stop immediately and address the situation. Unfortunately, sometimes drivers do not stop after colliding with bicycles.

In Boston, police report having located a driver who was allegedly involved in a fatal motor vehicle-bicycle accident. The police say the driver was operating a flatbed semi-truck that struck a woman who was riding her bike.

It is said that the driver did not stop and was perhaps unaware of having hit the woman. As of the writing of this post, the driver had not been charged and the case is under investigation. Co-workers of the woman, who was an endocrine surgeon, expressed how dedicated and hard working the woman had been.

In such cases, a thorough investigation is required to find out how such a tragedy occurred. If the victim has a family, that family deserves answers. If the results of the investigation indicate that the death was caused by the negligence of another, then the family may wish to take steps to hold the responsible party accountable.

If one of your loved ones has been seriously or fatally injured while riding a bicycle, you may wish to consult with an attorney. An experienced bicycle accident attorney may be able to assemble a strong case that helps you receive compensation for your loved one's misfortune.
