Car torn in 2 in deadly Rhode Island car crash
Whether here in Rhode Island or anywhere in the world, the worst call any parent can receive is that his or her child is dead. One mother received that call recently when her son, who was only 21 years old, died in a recent car crash. This mother will somehow have to come to terms with the fact that she will never see or talk to her son again.
That is because he was killed when the car he was in struck a utility pole. The impact was so catastrophic that the car ripped into two pieces. At about 1 a.m., the three men left a party in the car. The woman's son was in the back seat, and during the accident, he was ejected from the vehicle.
He passed away at the scene of the tragedy. The driver and front seat passenger both survived the crash but not without suffering injuries. They were both transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
Even though officials have not yet discerned the cause of the crash, the victim's mother believes alcohol and speed were factors in her son's death. Law enforcement officials are neither confirming nor denying that these were factors in the crash. Charges have not yet been filed, and may not be until an accident reconstruction is done by the Rhode Island State Police with the assistance of the North Providence Police Department.
While the two injured men recover from their injuries, the investigation continues and the deceased victim’s mother, along with the rest of his family and friends, must bury him. Although nothing can restore this man to his family, they retain the right to file a wrongful death claim against the driver. If it is established to the satisfaction of a civil court that he was negligent in a way that caused the accident, the family may be entitled to an award for damages incurred in connection with this horrific car crash. Any monetary restitution could help defray the financial burdens placed on this family by the death of their loved one.
